Post brackets are fantastic when you need to get the exact high so your boat guides off the trailer at the ramp. Wrong high can see your boat slide into the back rail or worse, make you look like a mug at the boat ramp huffing and puffing trying to get your boat off.
OK, your boat need to be angled down on the trailer so that the stern or transom is at it's lowest point. If not then adjust your transom brackets down.
The bow needs to sit nice and high. It must fit snugly into the winch post and of course the U bolt connector must fit under the winch post roller.
Why? Because when braking the winch post will stop forward movement of the boat if the U bolt connector is under the winch post roller.
If the U connector is on top of the winch post roller then you are relying on tie downs or maybe even just the weight of the boat to stop it lurching forward under severe braking.
